Toxoplasmosis: Half-Empty

The rats are just the beginning.

Then it’s the horses that get toxoplasmosis.

Then it’s the otters.

Then it’s pregnant women.

Then for some reason there are more boys.

The sick rats, horses, otters and boys form a coalition to take on the cats and toxoplasmosis. Infected animals learn to change their auditory processing to better hear the cats and come to have excessive fear of certain sounds as a form of over-compensation. It’s not enough. The cats continue to dominate. With all the extra food to eat there are no longer any house cats and every cat is an outdoor cat. Cat lovers begin to despair. Birth rates plummet.
